1 - $1 Million State Grant

To kick off the list, we are excited to announce an award from the Commonwealth of Virginia in the amount of $1 million dollars for the continuation of the Glass House Project.

2 - Completion Phase 1A

2022 was a massive year for progress on the Menokin Glass House Project. The south and west walls of the ruin were resurrected and stabilized by an incredible team assembled for the project.

3 - First Descendants’ Day

Menokin hosted the first Descendants Day in October, welcoming over 100 people to commemorate their enslaved ancestors.

In 2022, Menokin hosted two maker events for the creative and local communities we serve in the Northern Neck and beyond: Makers Day in June, and Makers Market in November.

July 26, 2022 marked the one year anniversary of the creation of the Menokin Descendant Engagement Team (MDET).

7 - Elements Season Two

In 2022 we premiered the second season of the Elements webinar series. This season featured luminaries and thought leaders at the intersections of land use, architecture, preservation, and place.

8 - Summer Hangouts!

In our final segment of this 2022 series, Menokin welcomed our neighbors for the first ever Summer Hangouts, where everyone got to enjoy lawn games, frozen treats, and free tours of the ruin.
