Rebuilding the North Wall

As of November 2025, the North wall along with the front entryway has been rebuilt! This work was done by the skilled stonemasons of Dominion Traditional Building Group with funding coming from the VA250 Preservation Fund and donations from our community.

Rebuilding the North wall also meant rebuilding the stone archway and incorporating the front door keystone with its memorable tobacco flower and leaf design. The keystone that was installed in the ruin is a replica that was made on site during the summer of 2025 by stonemason Hunter Shackleford. The original keystone was deemed too fragile to reintroduce back into the ruin, but is now on permanent display at our Visitor Center for everyone to see up close.

2025 was a momentous year for us, but we’re not done yet at Menokin! 2026 is approaching and our Annual Fund is open for donations to help support us in everything that we do. It’s because of our community, partners, and Menokin-enthusiasts that so much was accomplished this year!
