A Steel Beam Goes into the Ruin

In 2022, this steel column was the first significant piece of steel being introduced into the re-stabilization of the Menokin ruin.

The column’s purpose is to provide stabilization, as well as provide a solid base material to adjoin beams across the Northeast region of the ruin, work that will be completed in 2023.

In the span of a few short months, this column was mounted on a hand-crafted anchor assembly, and then surrounded by the original stones of the house by Dominion Traditional Builders all the way up past the second floor of the ruin, where it will be completely enclosed in a few short weeks.

A miraculous feat of modern engineering and timeless tradition of stonemasonry.
