Revolutionary Women of Menokin Tour

Menokin combed through archives to find letters, newspaper clippings, and other primary resources that revealed how women experienced and supported the American Revolution at Menokin and throughout the Northern Neck. The research also revealed how women of different backgrounds exerted power outside of the political systems they were excluded from.


Kayak Paddles

Menokin is rolling out another season of wonderful waterways adventures on Cat Point Creek via our owned outfitter Rappahannock Outdoor Adventures. Kayak Rentals, lessons, and guided paddles with our own Alice French. Spots go fast. Free water access for those with their own gear.


Genealogy Workshop

Saturday, August 19, 2023. 11:00 AM 2:00PM

“KNOW YOUR GENEALOGY” with Cara Griggs and Lydia Neuroth from the Library of Virginia - Learn how to access African American materials from your state library and the “Virginia Untold” digital project for documentation of enslaved and free Black people pre-1865. For all skill levels. A guided tour of Menokin is included. Register below!


Historic Garden Week at Menokin

The Garden Club of Virginia hits the Northern Neck for Historic Garden Week on April 19. Menokin is one of the featured stops. Shuttle service from Warsaw will leave on the hour from 11am to 3pm from the Verizon Building at 79 Main Street to Menokin, and double-back to the same location. You may also come by car with free parking. Our guides will be taking groups over to the site of the historic terraced gardens and the Menokin ruin to reveal plans for undergoing rehabilitation.


Summer Hangouts

Menokin comes back with our popular Summer Hangouts. Unwind with new and old friends on our groomed lawn nestled in 500 acres of beautiful landscape. Lawn games, tours of the Menokin ruin, and sweet treats from local food trucks. June 22, July 27, and August 24, 5-7pm.


Elements Makerspaces Webinar Series

This year’s lauded Elements webinar series season focuses on the rise of makerspaces with architects, preservationists, and artisans that are creating places of creativity and innovation in our culture today. Featuring thought leaders from this special community, this series will be as awesome as the first two seasons!


Makers Day 2023

Makers Day is back for a third year on June 24, 2023. Menokin embraces the maker tradition, as it’s in our DNA. We bring makers from our community to Menokin to celebrate the maker movement. Visitors learn from makers in various fields of craft as they share their talents and ingenuity. Special guided tours of the Menokin ruin will be offered, as well as food trucks serving awesome food. Free parking and admission.


Independence Day Week at Menokin

Menokin is the former home of Francis Lightfoot Lee, Signer of the Declaration of Independence. Take guided tours about Menokin’s place in our country’s founding, rent kayaks, and explore the landscape July 1-8. Walk-ins welcome! Learn more about activities at Menokin, book tours and kayak paddles all week long.


Fairy House Competition

Menokin has been working on the magical Glass House Project. We invite creators to display your own magical house, on a smaller scale, for the fairies in our forest. Submit a proposal to build a house along our trails. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards will be awarded for historical reference, sustainability, and most magical. Come fill the magical trails at Menokin with Fairy Houses of your design!


Architectural Travel Tour 11.3-11.5

Join us for a special 3-day guided coach bus tour showcasing homes designed by renowned 18th century architect William Buckland including Menokin, Gunston Hall, the Hammond-Harwood House, and other destinations.
